Meet the artist: David Jackson

David Jackson was one of the artists to join us for our popular development program INCITE in 2017. Here he reflects on the experience:

1. What inspired you to take part in INCITE in 2017?

I saw an opportunity to dedicate a full week to work with a group of multi-faceted, multi-disciplinary artists as I expanded and developed my practice. Also, I’d met Danielle at a workshop and was very keen to work with her again.

2. What were a couple of your key highlights from the week?

There was a great balance between practising movement in a precise way and interrogating movement through improvisation. I also enjoyed the accumulative nature of the program, with the opportunity to revisit and develop our practice each day.

3. How did you find the experience of working with Ellen Lauren?

Amazing. She was passionate, articulate, and instilled in us the purpose and need for performance in this current climate.

4. What will you take away from your week at INCITE?

INCITE was a reminder that time is such a vital part of creative work. You need spend time with it, practise it, question it, and fight for it.
